Club Penguin Journey

A fan-made revival of Club Penguin founded in 2023 based on the game's AS2 (middle) era, from 2007-2012. The game was abruptly shut down in September 2024 before returning the following month. Unlike most other revivals, the game is not housed in a downloadable client and is purely browser-based just like the original game.

I tried Club Penguin Journey once but couldn't get into it as someone who grew up with AS3 Club Penguin.

Sheep Fricker

A Minecraft redstone circuit in which a simple redstone clock is used to pulsate a sticky piston. A lightning rod or end rod is affixed to the piston and a mob, usually a sheep, is collected in a boat and placed in front. As the sticky piston extends and retracts, the rod appears to anally penetrate the sheep, giving the circuit its name. Also known as a sheep fucker, sheep machine, or sheep station.

Most people used redstone repeaters to power a sheep fricker, but I find that observers are easier to set up.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake

A remake of the 1988 JRPG Dragon Quest III released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC in November 2024. In the months leading up to its release, the game became controversial for its censorship of the late Akira Toriyama's character designs and the removal of gendered terms when referring to the protagonist. The controversy reached its peak when a viral interview with Dragon Quest creator Yuji Hori revealed that the changes were made solely to comply with Western regulations, coupled with developer and publisher Square Enix's attempts to scrub the video from the Internet. Upon release, the game sold moderately well but was poorly received by many fans of the series due to the aforementioned changes.

Everyone who was involved in censoring Mr. Toriyama's work for Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake needs to apologize at his grave.

New Club Penguin

A fan-made revival of Club Penguin founded in 2020 by former staff members of the infamous Club Penguin Online. It became the most popular revival of the classic MMO following the 2022 closure of Club Penguin Rewritten. The game is known for its bugs and large amount of ads resulting in poor performance, and questionable additions of new content instead of fixing these issues.

Card-Jitsu Fire is broken and unplayable in New Club Penguin, but apparently the developers would rather shoehorn pride flags into a 20-year-old children's game than fix bugs.

Sleep Stream

A type of internet live stream in which a streamer records themselves lying in bed. During the stream, viewers are able to disrupt the streamer’s attempts to sleep by sending text-to-speech messages, playing music and/or videos, and sometimes controlling elements of the room itself such as lighting. In such cases, it is also referred to as a “control my room” stream.

I'm surprised more streamers haven't done sleep streams; they generate a lot of money from viewer donations.

Firewalk Studios

An American video game developer founded in 2018 and acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) in April 2023. It developed the now-defunct 2024 hero shooter game Concord, which is often cited as one of the biggest failures in video game history. Following this, the studio was shut down by SIE in late October 2024.

Sony and Firewalk Studios didn't consider what gamers wanted and now they've paid the price.

I was here.

A phrase used by viewers of Internet live streams when a notable event, usually one that is expected to become a viral video clip, has occurred. Most commonly used when a streamer accomplishes a notable feat in video games, the phrase signals that the viewer witnessed the viral event as it happened.

My favorite streamer killed the ender dragon last night and the chat was spamming "I WAS HERE."
