McDonalds

A bad fast food chain. The food has grease and calories through the roof, is likely to cause food poisoning, and doesn't even taste good. Its symbol is often optimistically called the Golden Arches; but in actuality, it's a huge, piss-yellow "M." Often sued by people who got fat on the product. While it's true that no one made them eat there, the company kind of deserves it.

"I've given up eating at McDonalds; the food literally makes me sick."

circumcision

An operation often done to boys at birth (or at least before puberty). Not necessary for health (as long as the guy is clean) or sexual pleasure, and no great aesthetic improvement. De rigeur among some communities, usually for religious reasons. Probably something that a grown man should decide to have done to himself, as opposed to something that a little boy's parents decide to have done to him.

"What are your views on circumcision?" "I have none...but I won't do it to any son of mine."

fat man's charm

The reason I find Abraham Benrubi way more attractive than Jude Law.

"I mean it; the quarterback's all yours. I'm more interested in the tackle; he's got that whole fat man's charm thing going on."

boys will be boys

An excuse that people make for a young guy doing something stupid.

High-school principal: "Your son cut class to smoke a joint and tag the women's locker room. We caught him in there, in a compromising position with two girls." Mother of 18-year-old: "Well, he shouldn't be doing that...but boys will be boys, I suppose."

pro-choice

Someone who wants to keep abortion legal, wants euthanasia to be an option for the dying, or both. Not necessarily a heartless nihilist with no respect for human life, although that's a common stereotype. Usually considers abortion and euthanasia "necessary evils."

"I think abortion is wrong, but I realize that sometimes it's the only option. What does that make me?" "You still count as pro-choice. Get used to it."

qipao

A high-necked, narrow-cut dress, often made out of silk or brocade. The best examples have "frog" closures and are slit up both sides of the skirt. Originally from China; the term literally means "banner dress." Also known as a cheongsam.

"My wedding dress will be an ivory silk qipao—no two ways about it!"

Leo

Someone born when the sun was in the constellation of the lion (July 22-August 22). Often behaves like a stereotypical male lion—aggressive yet lazy, and possessed of a huge ego which is as fragile as a soap bubble.

"Ben pitched a fit over some chick turning him down. After that, he sat on my couch whining about it for an hour, then demanded that I order a pizza." "Did you expect something else of a Leo?"
