A fork of Rural Dictionary
almost every1 who has written a definition on this website for "poser Punk." they are saying that being punk has no fashion code and you arent defined by the music you listin to. yet they call people posers for shopping at hot topic and listining to SP and GC. i personally dont like those bands but that dusnt mean that someone who does is a poser. every1 says that being punk is about being your self and not caring about what others think of them. how do you know that people who like those stores and bands arent being them selves? your creating a stereo type and a fashion code just by posting those definitions. and you are doing EXACTLY what you say punks dont do. stop being so judgemental. music and clothes dont define a person. only their personality does.
poser punks are judgemental on other peoples clothing, music style, and other stupid things like that. honestly, who cares what a person wears or listins to.
A generally derranged indvidual who enjoys listening to, for lack of better words, crap. Boy bands with instruments, if you will. They generally migrate around Hot Topic during the summer and other such days off from school.
Shopping at Hot Topic makes you see a superfluous amount of poser punks.
trendy bastards that have rich parents and want to be noticed.and they might have a half mohawk.
Someone who says to be your self, yet thinks people are worse human beings for enjoying Blink 182. See Insecure or Little Bitch
No one knows my favorite band! You like Blink 182? OMGWTFBBQ LOZL GO TO HELLz!1oneone
people who pose as something or someone they are not because their personalities suck so they tend to dress or act a different way just so they could fit in, and then they call other people poser punks coz they think their status would elevate somehow. sometimes they can be confused with real punks because of certain issues. for example, a poser punk will listen to bands like blink182 or sum41, but sometimes there are real punks who listen to the said bands because they like it personally. and poser punks dress in all-out punk style, while a few punks dress in regular clothes because it's what they want to wear. as you guys have said, real punks don't care about the trend. they do what they want and they listen to what they want. but posers try to dress and listen to something they think they should want.
go to my school. they're everywhere.
Someone who acts the way they do because they think it's cool.
A kid who wears a tony hawk shirt, has a pre made board, vans shoes, and doesn't know how to skateboard, but they act like they can.
This is more of an opinionated definition, so if you don't like it, don't read it. Now, for all of these people saying that 'poser punks' are people who listen to bands such as 'Sum41' and 'Good Charlotte', etc, and also saying that being a real punk is being unique and pretty much having no guidelines to whatever they do, then why are these people saying that, although being a punk is being unique and having no guidelines, as well as not caring what other people think, then why are they making guidelines by saying that if you listen to a certain band, then you MUST be a 'poser punk'. Excuse my run on sentence if you will, I felt a need for all those commas. Anyways, so if you are trying to have no guidelines, and trying to be unique, it's not going to happen because people still seem to be making rules about being a punk, and not being a punk. Say if you wear safety pins on your hat? Does that make you a 'poser punk' just because you like to do this? Just by listening to a band such a 'Sum41', does that automatically make you a 'poser'? Personally, I don't think so. I think that whatever you want to do, you do it. If you want to be a punk so badly, then follow what you like, whether it be from the mainstream, or something that's entirely new. Thanks for your time, and have a nice day.
"Poser punk is just another silly label"
