A fork of Rural Dictionary
A phrase to describe the truism that you increase the probability of dying violently when you choose to live a life of violence.
It was never lost on me that you must consider the wisdom of “live by the gun, die by the gun,” when choosing to own or carry a firearm.
Expression meaning take lots of risks, have lots of fun, and don't suffer through old age. It is implied that the first half of the expression is what causes the second half.
Guy 1: I can't wait to be 65 when I can get medicare. Guy 2: Oh god, I hope I never get that old. Live fast, die young.
It means those who spend all their time seeking violence and trying to kill others are destined to find the violence they seek and die instead. It is meant as a warning to not seek fights, but to try to find peaceful resolutions to problems if at all possible (a sentiment that is too often forgotten and sorely needed in this world).
You hear about Blake? He thought he was all that and went to front with the guys in the barro. Even with his piece, he ended up fufilling the old saying, live by the sword, die by the sword.
This expression was adapted from Jesus’ words to His disciple Peter in Matthew 26:52--But Jesus said to him, "Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword." An idiom meaning “what goes around comes around.” More to the point, “if you use violent, forceful, or underhanded methods against other people, you can expect those same methods to be used against you.” A person who lives violently will probably at some point be killed in a violent manner.
The expression "live by the sword, die by the sword" was contemporized to "live by the gun, die by the gun."
Live fast die young (LFDY) is a slogan to encourage people to do what they want when the opportunity arises because tomorrow never comes. It is encouragement to take risks.
If you wanna do it, do it! Don't waste no time just being old. Live fast, die young!
Fuck it there’s no point in caring just let life take control and live through the motions and leave it all on the table cause tomorrow never comes there’s only today
Why would I jump off the plane Live fast die young
