One who teaches English as a Foreign Language. Usually a native speaker of the language teaching outside his/her country of origin. A career which attracts the adventurous, the eccentric and the sociopathic.

English as First Language When someone whose first language is English speaks their own language more poorly than many others who learned it as a second language. Often they will make grammatical mistakes that would be uncommon among ESL (English as Second Language) folks.
