Gringe

Noun; a contraction of the phrase 'green fringe', often coupled with the word 'lunatic', as in ‘the lunatic gringe’. Denotes the social demograph wherein can be found those poor souls who sacrifice all else for the sake of environmental ideals, and attempt to convert all and sundry to their own personal cause.

He was part of the lunatic gringe, and had sworn never to eat lettuce unless he was sure it had been humanely killed.
