hip pop

A term that is often used as an insult directed at certain rappers whose songs are constantly played on mainstream radio and MTV, and top the Billboard charts, and who rap about softer, less-threatening subjects which include how rich they are, how they want to please their girlfriends, partying at clubs, drinking champagne (Cry-Stal), and how rich they are. Their music is mostly listened to by young, white surbaban teenage girls, which adds to the criticism since apparently, white people are afraid of rap music if it's too rough. So this is considered the white-friendly alternative. Artists attacked for this include Nelly, 50 Cent, P. Diddy, and Ja Rule. Hilariously considered "Not Real Hip-Hop" by some African-American and Hispanic rap fans. It IS actual hip-hop, just attacked because apparently rappers aren't allowed to become sucess ful, make lots of money, and have their music played alot.

Yo, Nelly ain't real hip-hop! Real hip-hop is Talib Kweli, Mos Def, and De La Soul! That shit is hip-pop!

Hip Pop

Music rappers call "hip hop" when it sounds like pop music (intoxicating beats to lyircs nobody actually listens to) This can mean a beat that sounds like Britney Spears or a pussy/money song with a nice beat but doesn't use more than 50 different words. Some Hip Pop artists are: Soulja Boy T-Pain Yin Yang Twins Lil' Wayne VIC Flo Rida Foxx and Webbie Timbaland

Hip Pop Fan: Did you hear that new Yin Yang Twins song, 'Drop'? It's so mothafuckin raw! Hip Hop Fan: Yeah, the beat sounded just like 'FeedBack', by world-famous pop music star Janet Jackson, who's been making pop music for the past 2 decades, so I turned it off. What's it about, anyway? Hip Pop Fan:.......

Hip-pop

Music that some "hip hop" artists produce...like those songs directed at girls or the rapper himself/herself does not show that they are good lyricist but somehow a favorite at the club, maybe its catchy and can be listened by those "white folk" that say "I like hip hop, I listen to" so and so but they have no idea about the hip hop culture. I think those artists cannot be looked as one who wins battles or is very influential. I think 50 cent and Eminem are becoming a trend but if you listen to their other tracks on their albums or mixtape sh*t they show their skills(I think Em is a very talented becuz of his "Big Daddy Kane sh_t" he makes words you wonteven condsider to rhyme and makes it work. He uses his prononciation to the fullest) not like other artists, who i think are like hip hop knock-offs. No skills...check. Known to just about everyone...check. Soft...check!

Girl 1- (at the club)hey girl, this is MY song! Lets go dance, come on. Girl 2- NO! whatever its my song. (the girls dont walk, they run to the dance floor and shake their little pancakes) Such artists as Nelly,Ja rule...etc.

Hip-pop

A word first mentioned by Binary Star as popular hip-hop music. Namely, Mtv rap songs such as anything produced by Puff Daddy since biggies demise, Ja Rule, 50cent, Eminem, etc...

50cent is a manufactured rapper, complete with his own clothing-line. He is the definition of hip-pop.
