Pulled a Hillary

Botch a sure-fire opportunity. Cause a big problem because of inattention or pride. Treat people poorly and suffer the consequences.

A ten-yard field goal would have won the game, but the kicker pulled a Hillary and missed. All I had to do was close the door, but I pulled a Hillary and left it open, and so some creep slipped in and stole my laptop. My friend refuses to tip the janitor, so the janitor turned-down his heat on the coldest night of the year. Talk about pulling a Hillary.
