A fork of Rural Dictionary
Mispelled version of the word "punani," the Kanaka Maoli (native Hawaiian) word for the female genatalia. Literal translation is beautiful and/or splendid flower.
The origin is often miscredited as coming from Jamaica. This can be attributed to the word "puntun," later pronounced "poontang," thought to originate in West Africa and making it's way to the West Indies.
It's spelled punani not punany.
A jamaican fruit that is nice wet and juicy. This fruit is common in jamaica. If u want to impress a lady, than ask her if she can get u punani. Punani is the best fruit that is God made.
jamaican guy:Hey gyal, I think that u should get me some punanii :)
white chyck:O sure mann. Its nice and wet.
I first heard the word Punany from a young Jamaican man at Howard University. It sounded like such a beautiful word for female genitalia, I adopted it for my Poetry project in 1995. "The Punany Poets" celebrate female sexuality and promote safer sex andsexual empowerment through erotic literature and theatrics.
The Punany Poets are featured on HBO Real Sex 24 and 26 demonstrating Punany theater. "Punany Dream" (performed in the segment) is a fantasy piece about a lonely house wife who masturbates while her hard working husband is away at work.
