shady

A place you don't want to be. This place may exhibit any combination of the following characteristics: 1. a high crime rate 2. a plethora of sketchy characters (aka thugs) 3. dark alleys or blind corners 4. the presence of metal detectors or rent-a-cops 5. instills a fear of you gettin' jacked Ladies, if you have to ask a guy to walk you to your car for safety reasons (and not because you want to make out with him) ... the place is definitely shady.

I don't care that parking garage has decent lighting, it is shady from midnight to 6 am. Why else would they need a rent-a-cop? The G-bar over in downtown is shady. Even my buddy Ian, who's pretty much a thug, got jacked there. Ken went to a shady high school. Really, how shady? So shady they put metal detectors at the doors his freshmen year.
