wark

A combination of 'to work' and 'to warp': to 'wark' the news. To manipulate the evidence so that it suits your agenda AND so that you seem to be the person with the greatest foresight and insight into it. Inspired by the BBC Newsnight presenter Kirsty Wark currently in centre of controversy over her documentary about the Alex Salmond trial.

The reporter warked the news coming from Berlin so that it suited an English stereotype of an authoritarian German. The reporter warked the witness's comments so that the events seemed more shocking than they were. The reporter warked the evidence to omit key points and in so doing favour one perspective.
