Possibly derived from "what's the update." Extremely overused, almost exclusively by America's youth.
Sometimes I wonder why people always ask each other the same question over and over again, when answer is always "nothing." Are we really that dull?
Mike: What's up?
Matthew: Nothing. If you ask me again I'll roast you.
A way of agreeing to what the other is saying. Or if they ask you a question it can also mean that you are down to do what they're asking.
1:"Ay mayne, i got this killa, we blazinituptoday?"
2:"Shiiiit, that's what's up!"
There are many definitions for this.
1. The opposite of down.
2. The sky
3. The clouds
4. The sun
5. Space
If you want to be boring, you can just say:
1. Good
2. Bad
3. Okay

How people who are too lazy to add a single apostrophe to a word, spell the phrase, "What's up?" (What-is-up?).
Man: Hey man! Whats up! I'm so lazy that I decided to leave the apostrophe out of "what's", that way I can conserve more energy. You know, because I oppose global warming and all that.

Bob: Oh, nothing really, just hanging out at
