the act of shaking and/or hanging up an item — generally blankets, clothing, towels or rugs — in an effort to decrease the amount of accumulated pet hair.

Defeat (de-feat): To remove someone or something's feat. Used commonly back in the middle ages for deserters and foes as a warning and punishment.
