Compromise

To compromise is to make a deal between different parties where each party gives up part of their demand. In arguments, compromise is a concept of finding agreement through communication, through a mutual acceptance of terms

An agreement where one or both parties sacrifice a demand, in part or in whole, in order to reach a mutual agreement. This often has an unwelcome side effect whereby neither party is happy with the arrangement.

She wanted to go to a concert and I wanted to go to a lecture, so we compromised- we went to bed early.
