A fork of Rural Dictionary
An "emo" band from Chicago, Illinois, started by Tim Kinsella and members of the former Cap'n Jazz. The band lasted only from 2001-2002, but it was still able to further the unique sound of the Kinsella brothers and make a name for itself within the emo and indie scenes. Tim and Sam went on to form Joan of Arc, Sam and Victor played together in Ghosts and Vodka, and Mike Kinsella went on to pursue his solo project "Owen".
"A promise implied can't be broken..." - Tim Kinsella of Owls
Any of various often nocturnal birds of prey of the order Strigiformes, having hooked and feathered talons, large heads with short hooked beaks, large eyes set forward, and fluffy plumage that allows for almost noiseless flight.
Person A: An owl goes "Hoot".
Person B: O RLY?
Person A: YA RLY.
The rare York-Pennsylvanian Party Owl can be found stalking it's prey in it's work area, online, or at casual get-togethers. It can also be found nesting in barns cautiously poking it's head in and out. The typical diet of a York-Pennsylvanian Party Owl is hot girls, pot, and beer.
"Owl keeps pokin' his head in the barn lookin' for pot, and ladies."
Acronym for an 'Old Wise Lesbian'.
This lesbian is often a professor, was alive during the AIDS pandemic, and is a fierce feminist. She is most likely a K.D. Lang and Tracy Chapman fan, and prefers malt over hops. She has contempt for most men as a result of years fighting the hegemony and has had dinner with Gloria Steinem. She has a strong political relationship with the word lesbian and is reluctant to be referred to by any other term. Her sense of humour is sarcastic, occasionally self deprecating, and very sharp.
Unlike twinks with older queens, young lesbians do not seek sexual advice or sex from OWLs. Rather, they seek political discourse and the occasional low-level flirt over a London fog.
"Dude! I had no idea your mom was an OWL! Can I have coffee with her sometime?"
Person 1: "what does Portia see in Ellen?"
Person 2: "Are you kidding me!? Ellen is a very fuckable OWL"
