death metal

Death metal, and in fact, most of modern metal originated from underground bands during the hair metal days, and most of the bigger ones hail from Sweden, particularly Gothenburg. The exceptions to this are nu-metal, which is based in more than one way off of grunge, and classic/stoner rock. The music generally consists of screams and yells, more high-pitched than not. They also have utter walls of guitar, accompanied by difficult-to-play leads, and drumwork second only to jazz. Also tends to have a recurring bass line; and guitars are oftened tuned down two steps or more. They sometimes tend to have a softer side as well, with orchestras or pianists. Lyrics, however hard to hear, are normally about important issues relating to the state of things, personal conflict, or political anthems. Major names from this genre: Arch Enemy, Opeth (much more of a softer side than most, one of the best bands there is), Soilwork, In Flames, Dark Tranquil(l)ity, etc. On another note, people who listen to nothing but metal tend to be fiercely defensive of their favorite bands, and do not like change, as any In Flames fan will tell you. They tend to have a love/hate relationship with any band they listen to. I personally don't think there is such thing as a bad song, just a less good one.

Death Metal: Arch Enemy, Opeth, Soilwork, In Flames, Dark Tranquil(li)ty, Darkest Hour, At the Gates, etc. Not Death Metal: Emperor, Cradle Of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Hypocrisy, Avenged Sevenfold, Stratovarius, Rhapsody, Korn, Linkin Park, Breaking Benjamin, Mudvayne, etc. Slipknot has there own genre, because by most standards, they're a little bit of everything...World Music?

death metal

Death metal is a relitively younge gendre of music, but it has been plaqued by controversy throughout it's entire life. Death metal is characterised by it's gutteral vocal assault, jinsane double bass drumming and heavily distorted and detuned guitars. Death metal can be painfully stupid and cliché (Cannibal Corpse, Deicide) to stunningly complex and rousing (Meshuggah, Opeth, Satrycon. Ultimatly it's all music and deserves it's repect. People often associate death metal with poor musicainship and juvinile lyric themes, although some bands adhere to this formula it's not always the case as with any gendre of music. Death metal takes loads of talent to perform, and most of it shoots right over the casual listener's head. The lyrical themes in death metal can seem one-dimenional but reads some lyrics and you'll be astonished (try Napalm Death) How the gendre got it's name can be daebated but I think it got it's name from the Venom album (Black Metal) Good death metal/grindcore bands include Vintersorg, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, Carcass, Opeth, Meshuggah, Athiest, Death, Bathory, Marduk, Burzum.

Dude, Deicide played in a gig with Blink182 and Deicide totally kicked thier asses. Death metal sucks, I'm gonna go listen to "Barbie Girl" I listen to Napalm Death and Charles Mingus, because I love well-written and composed music.

death metal

Death Metal is not for the weak. Death Metal is for the chosen ones who see the vision of darkness and believe that eternity exists through sacrafice of the meek. DEATH METAL IS NECROVORE.

Kill Yourself if you do not believe. If you are too weak, call me, I'll kill you myself. Lick your wounds and bleed again!!!!!

death metal

Death metal instrumentals = amazing Death metal lyrics = poetic in their own right and sometimes very current with world news. Death metal vocals a.k.a death grunt = retarded. I think that most of the bands have some amazing musicians. but the way they sing in an inaudible voice is just stupid.

Bands with my favorite instrumentals from the death metal genre. God Dethroned, Nile, Cannibal Corpse.

death metal

really scary shit...i guess its kind of misunderstood, DM consists mostly of low noises, rasps, and screamed words, and the themes usually give people the impression the artists are so distressed they need to scream in that way; but hey..whatever floats your boat.

"He's so into death metal, i almost pissed myself listening to it!"

death metal

Music that is insanely complicated and takes considerable technical skill to play, that is typically ruined by growling and lyrics that sing about "death" and "satan" and similiar words to try and make the music deeper than it already, but actuals detracts from its overall quality.

Fear Factory is death metal without the pathetic lyrics that attempt to make it scary.

a type of music that is so misunderstood, the drums is insanely hard to play b/c its so amazing, and the guitar is distorted but the solos are hard....overall it takes up alot of talent, but the lyrics ARE SO FUCKING STUPID THAT IT GIVES METAL A BAD NAME (either way i think death metal is cool)

kickass music w/ stupid lyrics- thats why thrash metal is the best
