A fork of Rural Dictionary
When you’re reading this, you’re either a mad cishet male looking for trouble or just someone curious for what neopronouns are. Either way, keep reading to educate yourself! (and if you’re the first option, don’t be stubborn just listen up)
First up, let’s talk about pronouns. We use pronouns to replace nouns in sentences instead of saying the name over and over again, like “Matilda is so kind, and Matilda is my best friend.” Instead of this sentence, you can replace the second/repeating names with a pronoun such as she, or he, etc. The corrected sentence would be: “Matilda is so kind, and she is my best friend.” When you don’t know someone’s pronouns, the best pronoun to use would be they, since it’s gender neutral.
Now that we know what pronouns are, let’s learn about neopronouns! Neopronouns are just pronouns outside of she, he, or they, and they can basically be anything as long as it isn’t problematic. Neopronouns are commonly used by neurodivergent people and they are SIMPLY used JUST for the persons comfort! So there is no reason to attack them over a silly little name. If it’s cringy, just cringe and get on with your life! Easy as that :)
Person 1: “what are your pronouns?
Person 2: “i use neopronouns! they’re xe/xir, thank you for asking.”
Person 3: (the people disliking this definition) “bro that’s some *unreclaimable slur* type shit get a life 🤣🤣”
Neopronouns usually deal with an object, and are used when people cannot figure out their gender identity.
No, don't bully people who use neopronouns. They are trying to discorver themselves just like you and I and do not deserve to be harassed online.
Common neopronouns are xey/xem it/its aey/aem
Person 1: I want to start going by it/its pronouns.
Person 2: That's okay! I will try to use those pronouns on you as much as possible
Person 1: I think neopronouns really help me with discovering myself.
neopronouns are a set of (usually) gender neutral pronouns commonly used by trans or gnc individuals. pronouns are simply a set of words that are used in place of someone's name, and therefore do not have an inherently implied gender, just as someone's name does not inherently equal their gender. neopronouns are common and have been around for years, with the first known set of neopronouns thought to be created by Charles Crozat Converse in 1858 (thon/thons). furthermore, many other cultures and languages have had neopronouns for many years before that.
examples of neoprns:
ae/aer
doll/dollself
bun/bunself
fae/faer
vae/vaer
+ many more !
if you think neopronouns are not valid, well guess what? you're transphobic !
"wow you use neopronouns? you're so valid and sexy"
neopronouns are pretty much "custom pronouns"
they can be used by anyone of any gender.
Some general guidelines are: No slurs especially if you can't reclaim them, no social/political/human rights movements ex the "BLM" 'pronouns' only used by trolls, and just generally don't be an asshole.
Although people who use neopronouns are often transgender/nonbinary, There are cisgender people that use them too. Pronouns don't always equal gender and therefore you can be cis or trans and use neopronouns.
While neopronouns may be used by neurodivergent, usually autistic people or people with adhd, neurotypical people use them as well.
there are also neurodivergent (usually autistic people or people with adhd) and neurotypical people that find these pronouns confusing, and I'd like to mention how most neopronoun users have at least one set of 'regular' pronouns, so as long as you're not purposely misgendering people or just saying they're confusing because you're trying to be a dick, then you're fine.
if you don't like someone's neos then either ask for another set, or just don't interact with them.
If you'd like to try some out for yourself, a good site is pronoun dressing room.
If you're learning english/non native speaker, don't worry about these too much, you're unlikely to meet someone who uses neopronouns and most people who use neos also use a set of "normal" pronouns, like he/him, they/them, or she/her.
p1: sup i'm name and i use he/him, ros/roseself, lav/lavenderself as neopronouns.
p2: oh it's nice to meet you. i'm name and i use she/he. How would you use those neos? I've never seen/heard them before.
p1: well, you could look it up if you wanted, on pronoun dressing room. But Because im in the mood to, i'll give you an example!
"He was having fun. His paintings are really cool. He should be proud of himself."
"Ros was having fun. Rose's paintings are really cool. Ros should be proud of roseself."
p2: oh cool. It may take time to get used to, but for now I'll try, and i'll use the he/him pronouns until i get a hang of those pronouns.
p1: awesome! thanks.
then they continue talking about interests and or small talk
neopronouns are something 12 year old girls use to try and separate themselves from the rest of society. they're prolly into cosplaying, slit their wrists, and dont have a father.
person a: "my neopronouns are 👅/ 🦾 please respect them"
person a: "thats cor/corself homophobic"
smart person: "actually go outside"
Some dumb mother fucker on Tik Tok wearing elf ears and vampire teeth came up with to get attention, then people adopted them because they think that they can get attention by using bullshit words like they/them, kitten/kitthem. Stupid shit like that
Dumbass: "Hey my neopronouns are now they/them.
A sane person: "You're a fucking idiot . . ."
Gender nuetral pronouns, that are commonly used by nonbinary people
Some Neopronouns examples: xe/xem/xyr, ze/hir/hirs, ey/em/eir
