Farrokh Bulsara (AKA Freddie Mercury) was born on a small island in Zanzibar, Africa. His parents were Bomi Bulsara (dad) and Jer Bulsara (mom) he had a younger sister by the name of Kashmira. His background is Asian/Indian and his religion was Zoroastrianism. Mercury was the lead singer of a legendary British band called Queen. He wrote some of the biggest hits for the band such as: Somebody to Love, Don't Stop Me Now, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, We Are The Champions and of course Bohemian Rhapsody. He was an amazing performer, and had a vocal range of nearly four octaves! Freddie Mercury was bisexual. He had a longtime best friend/girlfriend by the name of Mary Austin, which remained close to him even till the end. He also had a boyfriend by the name of Jim Hutton that he spent with the last six years of his life with. Somewhere around 1986 he was diagnosed with AIDS, but kept his illness private and only told a couple of close friends and family members of his disease. On November 23 in 1991, he made an announcement that he had AIDS, and on November 24th he died peacefully at his London home surrounded by his close friends and family. His cause of death was AIDS related bronchial pneumonia. He will always be missed - Rest In Peace Freddie
