When two ppl like/love each other but only talk through a third party and the third party often gets to involved in the relationship
Man this relationship is more like a love triangle now.
When two people both love a third person, and that third often loves them both. The object of their love may be conflicted as to whom he/she wants, and generally nobody emerges from these very happy. Love Triangles, as it is widely agreed, really fucking suck.
Movies (And the overly perverted force some call fate) tend to resolve Love Triangles by killing off the less-hot suitor.
A situation that involves 3 people in which each person is attracted to (or in love with) a different person in the triangle; typically all feelings are one-sided causing situations of frustration and sometimes hilarity depending on the context.
"Hey did you hear Sarah asked John to the dance? He turned her down hard." "Omg no way! I'll bet he wants to go with Amy. Too bad she's crushing hard on Sarah!" "Man love triangles are confusing..."
The only thing worse than the friend zone. Usually fated to occur when two best friends who like a person of the opposite gender. Either resolves in the friendship being destroyed or neither one getting the girl. Either way, everyone loses.
Best friend 1: Hey man you been interested in anyone lately? Best friend 2: Yeah man, (insert girl's name here) is pretty cute, I think I'm gonna ask her out. Best friend 1: OH MOTHER FUCK, ANOTHER LOVE TRIANGLE
When two people like the same person this is called a 'Love Triangle'. For the obvious reason that the 2 individuals make up the 3 points of a triangle....

In any arrangement of the romance, the complex of relationships is often illustrated as a triangle where the three persons are connected by their love of a common individual.
