British colloquialism:

An affectionate form of address, usually used in a greeting and almost universally said by a man to another man.

Ah good to see you (optional insertion of person's name) old bean. How are you?

1)Referring to and or about an extremly elderly or a diabolically mishapen object or person 2) Aged part of any seedbearing plant in which the plant is unable produce offspring due to the elderlarity of the bean 3) Maniacs whom attack innocent villagers due to a loss of brain cells

The Old Bean was so elderly, and mentally insane, that he ravenged the poor children with his fluttering mustache.

Ex. the toad guy off of mario party, thor, possibly leviathan, nearly anyone with a raggity beard or 'stache

Term of endearment used by men when addressing an old friend, emphasising that you are pleased to see him.
It is absolutely neutral, and if anything a bit fuzzy warm.
