The stupid fashion statement of popping the collar on a polo shirt. Mostly done by young men between the ages of 17 and 25. The popped collar is a way of detecting arrogance and idiocy with out engaging in conversation with someone.

A way to wear your collar to protect the neck from the sun while playing sports such as tennis or golf. Worn by true preps and once the norm in the 80s when everyone wore preppy clothing but has since been rejected by society because obnoxious frat boys or 'gangsters' wear them. Some true preps still wear them this way, while some preps find this tacky. Most others think that if you wear a popped collar, you are snobby and stuck up. But to really judge if a person is or not, you must converse with them and actually get to know the person.

A fashion very popular in Europe, that consists of a rich person wearing a shirt (usually very expensive brands) and popping its collar, which makes them look extremely trendy and attractive to hot European chicks. This is hated on by most americans.
European chick: “Holy sh*t!! Look at that fly guy rollin up in his BMW and his popped collar on his La Martina shirt for 500 Euro. He is soo hot and rocks the style.“ American: “Look at that fag, who thinks he’s cool cuz he’s from Europe and pops his collar.“

The act of popping up the collar of a polo shirt, so it covers the neck. Twenty years ago kids in ghetto wore their collars popped, now it is a trend among frat boys and preps. A common look for the frat boy is to wear a pink polo shirt with the collar popped. The pink shirt fools sorostitutes into thinking that frat boy is comfortable with his sexuality, when in reality, every sixth word out of his mouth is faggot.
