A fork of Rural Dictionary
A subgenre of Heavy Metal, mostly underground (I've never heard any on the radio), heavy medievel themes. Things such as Kights Templar, swrods, the Crusades, and war. That sort of stuff. Very fast. Much like death and heavy metal.
There ar many great underground power metal bands, such as Holy Dragons and BattleRoar.
a genre of metal, usually melodic. inspired by 80s metal, has a medievil/fantasy feel to it
uh destoryer of metal i dunno what power metal fans you know, but i have a girlfriend and hate video games so thats not that accurate.
the only true heavy metal (some may consider it to be a subgenre, but power metal is what heavy metal would be today if all the crap, a.k.a. death/black/nu etc., was removed from existence) which usually includes medieval/fantasy lyrical themes and very complex musicianship.
King Diamond is power metal. Whomever says otherwise is grossly misinformed and apparently deaf.
Power Metal is the description for today's "true heavy metal" sound. Power Metal bands are always guitar driven, with keyboards rarely making much of an appearance. The vocals are of the clean sounding variety, and usually feature very powerful, talented vocalists who can really reach the upper ranges of the vocal spectrum. Generally, the songs are fast paced, and employ fantasy themes including (but not limited to) dragons, gladiators, warriors, valhalla, Lord of the Rings, polished steel weapons, and generally conceptual themes that deal with very "manly" concepts, at least in a historical sense. You will rarely find songs about love, sadness, or failure. Power Metal is very uplifting, powerful music, that appeals to people who like to get inspiration from their tunes. Catchy, epic, and generally enjoyable as hell, Power Metal is a great genre that, regrettably, far too few people know about.
Lost Horizon is the finest example of power metal in the world today.
A form of metal. Power Metal takes its roots from 80's metal bands such as Iron Maiden, Manowar, and Dio. Power Metal usually employs the use of guitar and vocal harmonies, with the vocals in almost every case being sung cleanly (one excpetion is Demoniac, which is Blackened Power). Drummers in this genre must be very adept with double-bass pedals, for they are almost constantly using them. Being a very melodic style of metal, Power Metal is very intricate and difficult to write. It is one of the most difficult genres of metal to play, with Progressive (and Neoclassical) being possibly more difficult. Lyrics commonly found in Power Metal are based around mythology, elves, war, greed, weaponry (most commonly swords), brotherhood, horses, magic, demons, dragons, and other fantasy-based topics. This makes Power Metal a perfect choice for D&D players (sadly, I am one) and people who enjoy fantasy novels.
Other bands play, Manowar KILLS!
Awesome songs about metal and battles and how hard metal is with epic solos and emotionally charged lyrics that inspire ones soul to ride on.
Forever Angel by Axel Rudi Pell is a great Power Metal Song.
One word:Power metal(okay, technically two). This is used to describe the speedy, melodic sub-genre of metal originally known as "true" metal to the cool people that made it. Sadly, power metal is very very somewhat very misunderstood by a majority of metalheads, but just know it's actually pretty cool. Btw I personally think Dragon Force and Hammerfall are where it's at (may be biased because they got me into power metal). Basically, it may not the metal you're used to, but that doesn't make it bad at all; it might just be better. Plus, power metal musicians should be given more credit considering that one song can literally be all solos. Overall power metal breaks through the usual and barely lives up to its stereotype of being cheesy and lame. After all, I should know, I am and have always been a huge Metallica/thrash metal/heavy metal fan. 😆Hechyea to all metal.
I want to listen to power metal today, and some other random sub-genre of metal some other time. Power metal can be cool, just chill
