the act of snitching, ratting, or otherwise disclosing information meant to hurt or discredit someone else. This a play on tips and selling someone out.

"Shit, Tino dropped the dime on me skippin class. Man, I'ma fuck that motherfucker up!"

To snitch on someone. Often, to save their own ass. Comes from the old cost for a payphone call, ten cents.

"John got popped, so he dropped a dime on his supplier and they let him go."

To tell on someone

1. To snitch on another individual, usually to report an illegal act to law enforcement. 2. To unknowingly waste an exceptional amount of money on something.

Drop a dime (verb): 1. "I can't get bud anymore because some punk snitch dropped a dime on my only supply." 2. "Damn, you see Juan's '84 Accord with 22 dubs on it? He dropped a dime on that pos."
