Term used for getting three meals a day and a place to sleep. Literally basic living conditions.

I would get paid less if I went with Option A with the company, but at least I would be guaranteed three hots and a cot.

Room and board, especially in a place that is sparsely furnished.

The Army wasn't much fun, but at least I always had three hots and a cot.
