A person who possesses extreme potential or emerging capabilities. Mostly referred to when talking about someone who is a quick learner, or someone who picks up on details others don’t.
In short, it’s a synonym for quick learner, but also implies that they have hidden talent, or perhaps just a natural edge in their technique.
“He’s an esper when it comes to driving.”
“Bit of an esper myself.”
A person who is below average, and even upon further inspection still does not posses talents or useful knowledge.
A synonym for waste of space, and generally used as hyperbole in conversation. In the same way, it’s essentially just a derogatory way of describing a person as useless.
Of course, this is why it’s put in this sense. The word burner at its core is just a way of alluding to how useless they are, as if they existed only to burn out like a cigarette.
“God, you’re such a burner.”
“I hate burners…”
