YUT = Yelling Useless Things. Marine corps term derived in order to make fun of officers and the stupid things they say. Also used when agreeing to something when you have no idea what was said.
Officer: "Blah blah blahbitty blah eh oorah" Enlisted marine: " uhh YUT!"
YUT - You Undisciplined Thing! (Verb) Pronounced Ye-UT! (1) Used as a declaration of bullshit, or proclamation after stating the obvious. (2) Used at the beginning of a statement to Marines who don't know what to do or are generally clueless.
Young Marine - Gunny, a little bird told me you did short stint in the Chair force is that true? Gunny - What! Where the eff did you hear that? Young Marine - This guy i met at the Seven day who was in the Navy told me. He said you where his instructor back in Pensacola. Gunny - YUT! Lies, all lies! Carry on killer. Or Sergeant: Why are we holding this formation again? CPL: I have no idea. MSGT: YUT! Good Morning Marines. Today there will be a squadron wide piss test.
1. a motivational word used in the U.S. Military, similar to the word oorah - often used when one is either too lazy or not motivated enough to say oorah or other popular word of motivation. 2. used when in a large group of military members. When they shout a motivational term on cue, some may shout "YUT!" instead, and often in a sharp, awkward voice, just to stand out.
When the Master Sergeant tells a lower-ranking Marine to complete a task, one who is new would likely shout "oorah!" to sound motivated. But a Marine who has been in longer may likely shout "Yut!" instead to show his motivation.
