A joke created by Nazi Germany in an attempt to break British morale in 1941. After the war the British Government created the 'bri'ish joke pass' and gifted it to all European (except France and Germany) and Commonwealth states (except South Africa, due to their standard issue, more powerful, N-word Passes), meaning it is only funny when the above nationalities use it. It therefore cannot be funny when an american uses it, purely due to the fact they are unable to spell correctly.
