wasd

Common movement keys in First Person Perspective gaming

W = Forwards A = Left S = Backwards D = Right

by Riga July 22, 2004

wasd

The ever-so popular controls for an average PC game, most likely a First Person Shooter. The only 4 keys to contest the almighty reign of the Arrow keys. Apparently, some people want to put an end to it. Screw them.

Use W to move forward. Use A to move left. Use S to move back. Use D to move right. And no matter how many times it's said, it's still there in the tutorials.

WASD

The gamer's arrow keys. Used to allow easy access to both the mouse and the spacebar, when previously you had to either give up the mouse for use of the spacebar or perform difficult maneuvers with your pinky.

"Thank you, WASD, for making FPS better."
