Goth Punk

Sorry Phalkon. It's not really new. Goth Punk came about a little bit before Good Charlotte and co. Well, actually, waaaay before. Try the '70s. Anyway, punks who dress like goths isn't really new. I'm thinking of Siouxsie Sioux and Dave Vanian, in particular... Then, there were the deathrockers--Christian Death, Shadow Project, etc. Sometimes the Misfits are included, sometimes not. By the way, it may be worth mentioning that Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson claim Rozz Williams was an influence on their work.

Zombies, sex, death, and burning crosses... What's not to love?

Visual Kei

Refers to Japanese bands with an image in between glamorous and dark. While not truly goth in a western sense (e.i. Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy), they do owe a lot to glam rock greats, David Bowie and T-Rex (as does Goth Rock.)

X-Japan (sort of), Dir en Grey, Luna Sea, Malice Mizer, Gackt, Kana, Buck Tick

Rude boy/ Rude Girl

Originally, Rude Boys and Rude Girls were fans of ska and rocksteady.

The Clash's 'Rudie Can't Fail' is about Rude Boys: "Sing, Michael, sing-on the route of the 19 Bus Hear them sayin' How you get a rude and a reckless? Don't you be so crude and a feckless You been drinking brew for breakfast Rudie can't fail So we reply I know that my life make you nervous But I tell you that I can't live in service Like the doctor who was born for a purpose Rudie can't fail I WENT TO THE MARKET TO REALISE MY SOUL 'CAUSE WHAT I NEED I JUST DON'T HAVE FIRST THEY CURSE, THEN THEY PRESS ME TILL I HURT WE SAY RUDIE CAN'T FAIL We hear them sayin' Now first you must cure your temper Then you find a job in the paper You need someone for a saviour Oh, Rudie can't fail We reply Now we get a rude and a reckless We been seen lookin' cool an' a speckless We been drinking brew for breakfast So Rudie can't fail Okay! So where you wanna go today? Hey boss man! You're looking pretty smart In your chicken skin suit You think you're pretty hot In your pork pie hat But...Rudie can't fail Look out, look out... Sky juice!...10 cents a bottle!"

hardcore

Despite what some people think, hardcore came before emo. After Hardcore died out toward the end of the eighties, Ian McKaye (of Minor Threat) started a band called Fugazi. And thus EMO was born. (Yes, there were others, but Fugazi was one of the first.)

Hardcore was born in late seventies. It's one hell of a long "trend."
