Large Unnecessary Vehicle. Refers to a subpar SUV with no true function or sense of style to justify its size and existence. Also can refer to a huge pickup truck that’s being used for looks instead of work, often with an extended bed and multiple gas tanks.
I think the Chevy Suburban’s my least favorite LUV, but when I see the Hummer H2, I realize I’m wrong.
"Love," as in Love Field (airport in Dallas, Texas,) the home base for Southwest Airlines. The airline has made "love" a theme when referring to its customers and it's stock symbol is even...you got it, LUV.
