Pressurized Water Reactor. A class of nuclear reactor in which water is pressurized in the primary coolant circuit, which passes through the reactor and a heat exchanger. This heat exchanger heats up water in the secondary loop, which passes through the turbines and condenser. The turbines turn a generator to create electrical energy. Pressurized water reactors are the most common class of nuclear reactors in the world.
