constituency

In the language of politicians and those who govern, the constituency are those who are governed, or supposedly represented, by legislators and executive officials. Legislators really represent attorneys. See politician, legislator, attorney, and conflict of interest for further details.

In a true Democracy, the constituency would be self-governing. However, that might endanger the livelihood of legislators and politicians, so it isn't done that way.
