A person taking up residency in another country. Now most commonly used as term for those working in companies outside of their home country such as those with regional position and their family.
1. She got offered a regional position in her company's head office in Singapore making here an expat in that tiny city-state. 2. Our new neighbor is an expatriate family from Argentina, family of the newly appointed Argentine Diplomat.
An immigrant who refuses to learn/use the language of their new country, usually British people from the baby boomer generation
